Tai gali būti nauja statyba, remontas, priestatų statyba ir rekonstrukcija, surenkamųjų pastatų ar statybinių konstrukcijų montavimas statybvietėje, taip pat laikino pobūdžio statinių statyba. Bendroji statyba susideda iš gyvenamųjų būstų, įstaigų pastatų, parduotuvių ir kitokių viešųjų bei komunalinių statinių, žemės ūkio pastatų ir kt. statybos ir inžinierinių statinių ir tiesinių, tokių kaip autostrados, gatvės, tiltai, tuneliai, geležinkeliai, aerodromai, uostai ir kitokie vandens statiniai, drėkinimo sistemos, nuotakynai, pramonės įrenginiai, vamzdynai ir elektros linijos, sporto įrenginiai ir kt., statymo ir tiesimo darbai. Statybos darbai gali būti atliekami savo lėšomis ar už atlygį arba pagal sutartį. Dalį darbų, kartais ir visus, gali atlikti subrangovas. Čia priskiriamas subjektas, visiškai atsakingas už statybų projektą. Taip pat įeina pastatų ir inžinerinių statinių remontas. Į šią sekciją įeina pilnutinė pastatų statyba (41skyrius), pilnutinė inžinierinių statinių statyba (42 skyrius), taip pat specialieji statybos darbai tuo atveju, jeigu jie yra statybų proceso dalis (43 skyrius). Statybos įrangos, su operatoriaus samdymu, nuoma priskiriama prie specialiųjų statybos darbų, atliekamų naudojant šią įrangą. Į šią sekciją taip pat įeina pastatų ar inžinierinių statinių statybos projektų įgyvendinimas, sutelkiant finansines, technines ir fizines priemones, reikalingas statybų projektams realizuoti pardavimo tikslais.
